You can be the difference in your business!

How can business owners make their businesses profit without large up-front investments before? How can they build up a workable and sustainable business model efficiently? How to make your marketing work for you? The answer is “YOU”.

It is all about what “YOU” think your goals are, what “YOU” want your business to be, how “YOU” respond to client values and what “YOUR” attitude is, when implementing marketing techniques in your own business.

Start by asking yourself, “Are your goals worthy of YOU?” Are your goals big enough? Realistic, but always aim high, accept and welcome change in your life, be ready to learn from your customers and especially from the ever changing technological developments that surround you in your every day life.

Most people spend their time with daily routines ensuring proper running of the business, dealing with interruptions such as emails or phone calls, closing sales and handling enquiries. Spend some time every week, away from your working environment, to quietly think about your business, about what YOU want your business to be a year from now.

Think about how to develop your business, in which direction should you and your business, how can I improve my business and provide more value for my customers?

For instance, most of us will have heard the old adage that there are only 3 ways that you can grow your business:

1. increase the number of clients
2. increase the average product price
3. increase the number of times your clients buy in a year

When you sit down and think about your own business, you will realize that while most people focus on increasing the number of clients – it is really the least effective and profitable method.

Instead try thinking how to enhance points 2 and 3. Ask yourself “how can YOU improve your client’s lives?”

Majority of the business owners go for a quick sale and then move to the next prospective client – think about the “quick” sale as a means of learning about their life and you have a much better chance of selling the more products, more often.

For example, my sister spent over $1,000 buying kids’ educational products when her baby was born a year ago. But once the sale was made, she never heard from this company again. If they thought of how they can help my sister continue to help educate her young son in different ways; this company could have had a loyal, repeat customer for a long time. Just for keeping in touch with offers of new and better products, as the child grows older, I believe my sister would have been happy to keep buying.

For the company, this means increased business, repeat sales and no checking for discounts, i.e. higher prices.

Learning attitude can be applying to your life as well as your business. Learn at every valuable opportunity. Listen, observe and ask questions. Talk to anybody and everybody you run into. Whenever you learned something, write it down and every time you meet a new challenge, think of past lessons learnt from other people.

There is a lot of business knowledge out there – from successful people’s wisdom, marketing guru’s advice and just people you meet daily; it’s for YOU who decide what advice you will take or not, how to take it and when to take it.

At the beginning of 2010, take a break to think about your business and think of how and what difference YOU can make to change your business – just by changing YOURSELF, your attitude and your values.
