“Zero Sum” Strategies

What do we mean by “zero sum” strategy?

Under normal circumstances marketing is designed to increase a company’s or product’s market share – which means that somebody else has to lose for you to win.

With strategic marketing consulting, our strategies are not focused on gaining market share at the expense of someone else losing market share. We look for strategies to increase the size of the market as a whole.

By being the leader in the expansion of the whole market, by way of new markets, new applications and/or new, joint ventures and so forth, the incremental income produced can be way in excess of gaining market share at someone else’s expense; and achieved at a much faster rate.

As a strategic consultant, we are different to other consultants in that our agenda is to increase the whole market segment (as described above), whereas other consultants often have their own agenda in recommending solutions based on their experience in a particular discipline of marketing, aimed at taking market share from other high profile participants in same market.

We start with no pre-conceptions. We look at your product/service and look for new markets, additional markets, niche markets; we try to improve the yield from your own existing markets and highlight areas of collaborative opportunities. We achieve this through using factual research and adapting creative and innovative strategies to your industry/problem; by discovering and leveraging customer insights to obtain a deeper level of understanding of their needs in relation to the product/service offered.
